Sohan Khalsa

Hey there, I’m Sohan,

(That’s SO-Han. Like Han Solo if you flip it backwards and drop the Lo. Or if you’re Southern, “So Hun” will work.)

I’m a calligrapher, wedding stationer, and surface pattern designer (among other things) and I enjoy working with wonderful folks who love hand lettering and interesting patterns. And just so you have a little backstory, as a kid I would stare at wallpaper or a single letter for days trying to figure out how they got that design to repeat so nicely or wondering how that letter M could look better because it just wasn’t that pretty.

I’ve held a pencil for as long as I can remember, I’m pretty sure my mom still has some toddler drawings! But really, creativity runs in my family. My great grandfather taught himself to paint with oils. My grandmother is a self-taught artist and pattern designer and my other grandmother was always crocheting bedspreads, doilies, dresses and other things and her sense of style was immaculate. My parents owned a flower shop while I was growing up in Florida and I spent a few summers there working and learning that trade and put myself through college by working as a florist in Boston. Yes, I know about wedding florals!

Speaking of college, I went to the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University to get a BFA in Fine Arts and have worked as a designer and artist since and really even before then.

I’m excited about calligraphy, watercolor, and pattern design. I live in South Florida with my fantastic husband, delightful kids, and our fun and fuzzy cat, Daniel. My clients come from all over the world, places like United States, Canada,  Australia, Finland, and elsewhere. I like to create beautiful pieces for clients, whether it’s calligraphy, a custom wedding invitation, a surface pattern design, or a spiritual piece of art. Let me know what I can create for you!
